Alarms I see two topics that need clarification. First, I want to clarify the function of the “Alarm Clear” button in the Notifications Options section of the Alarm Point dialog box (your second screenshot). The key here is that this is a notification that the alarm condition has cleared, meaning the alarm is no longer active.

The alarm clear notification option allows you to set the value of a PAC Control tag when the alarm signal is no longer in the alarm range. For example, if you have configured the alarm to be triggered when a fuel level input is lower than 10 gallons, you can use this option to set the value of a PAC control tag once the fuel level input goes above 10 gallons again, i.e., once the input is no longer in the alarm range.

The second topic of clarification is related to removing an alarm entry from the alarm graphic. This option is only available on certain types of alarm configurations. Based on your first screenshot, it looks like you have configured a detailed alarm type. Detailed alarms have the option to acknowledge the alarm but not to “clear” the alarm (remove it from the UI). When the operator acknowledges detailed alarms, the alarm will still show on the detailed alarm graphic, but the color will change to indicate that it was acknowledged. The alarm will automatically be removed from the list when the alarm condition is no longer present, i.e., the fuel level goes above 10 gallons in our previous example. A history alarm might be better if you want the option to remove the alarm from the UI, even if the input is still in the alarm range. A history alarm does have a clear option, but not an acknowledge option.

They can also be used together. When a PAC Display operator acknowledges the detailed alarm, the history alarm graphic will show it as an event. You can then clear the history alarm graphic.

However, the detailed alarm graphic will still show the acknowledged alarm until the input is no longer in the alarm range. In PAC Display Configurator, you can change the alarm type using the select tool, double-click on the alarm graphic, and select between detailed, history, and summary.
